The difference is the method

How fire cleanup is usually done, and how we do it.

Most soot damage that cannot be fixed was caused by cleaning it the wrong way.

How it is usually done

  • Regular vacuum cleanerfine soot goes straight back into the air
  • Wet cloth firstgreasy soot is pushed into the paint and drywall
  • Bottom to topdirty water runs over the clean parts
  • No protectionthe crew breathes it, the stairwell gets it
  • Paint over the smellit comes back when the heating goes on

How we do it

  • H-class HEPA vacuum and negative airthe soot stays in the filter
  • Dry chemical sponge firstsoot is lifted, not smeared
  • Top to bottom, one directionevery surface is cleaned once
  • P3 respirators and zonescontamination stays in the work area
  • Remove the source, fog, seal with shellacthe smell is gone, not hidden
Why it matters

Fire damage keeps working after the fire is out.

Three processes continue for days, weeks and months. A restoration that only makes surfaces look clean leaves all three running.

Corrosion

Burning plastics, especially PVC, release chlorine compounds. With moisture they form acids that attack metal, contacts and electronics.

Mould

Firefighting water soaks into floors, walls and insulation. Wet porous materials can start growing mould within days.

Odour

Smoke compounds sink deep into plaster, wood and insulation. Warmth releases them again, often months later.

Hours to days
Corrosion of metal, contacts and electronics from acidic soot
Days
Mould risk in wet structures if drying has not started
Weeks to months
Absorbed smoke odour released again by warmth and humidity
How we work

Six rules every job follows.

1

People first

Structure, electricity, gas, air quality and asbestos are checked before any work starts.

2

Stop the damage before repairing it

Water, corrosion and soot migration are stopped in the first hours, not after the estimate.

3

Document before touching

Every room is photographed and measured before cleaning. The insurer pays for what can be shown.

4

Dry before wet, top to bottom

Loose soot is removed dry first. Wet cleaning too early smears soot into surfaces for good.

5

Remove the source, then treat the odour

Deodorising over contaminated material only masks the smell. It returns when the room warms up.

6

Nothing is closed until verified

No wall is closed and no floor is laid until it is measured dry and tested clean.
